2 Timothy 3:16-17

16All Scripture is inspired by God , and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

This volume is the writing of the living God: each letter was penned with an Almighty finger; each word in it dropped from the everlasting lips, each sentence was dictated by the Holy Spirit.

— Charles Spurgeon

The Bible is God’s inspired, authoritative, clear, and infallible word, guiding Christians in their faith and practice.

THE BIBLE IS GOD’S INSPIRED WORD

THE IS GOD’S INSPIRED WORD

Supporting Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16-17

16All Scripture is inspired by God , and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Key Truth: The Bible is “God-breathed”—meaning every word originates from God Himself. That makes the Scriptures entirely reliable and unique from every other book or source of wisdom. Paul says all of Scripture is inspired by God, making it our ultimate authority. Illustration #1: Bring out a letter from someone special (or describe it). You cherish their words because you know who wrote them. The Bible is God’s personal letter to you. It carries His thoughts, His heart, and His promises. Illustration #2: Think of a coach’s playbook. If you want to win, you trust the coach’s plan—not the random shouts from the stands. In life, God’s Word is our playbook—our source for the “how” and “why” of everything.

THE BIBLE IS CLEAR AND UNDERSTANDABLE

THE BIBLE IS AND

Supporting Scripture: Psalm 119:105

105Your word is a lamp for my feet

and a light on my path.

Key Truth: Scripture says, “Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path.” God’s Word isn’t meant to confuse us—it’s designed to guide us. When you open the Bible, you don’t need a seminary degree to find truth. God wants to speak to you directly and clearly. Illustration #1: Turn on a flashlight (or use your phone’s light) in a dim room. The darkness can be confusing, but just a little light makes a huge difference. God’s Word shines into our confusion, helping us see the next right step. Illustration #2: Think about learning to drive. Road signs are clear, showing you where to go and what to avoid. The Bible is full of God’s “signs” for us—warnings, directions, encouragements, and promises.

THE BIBLE IS TRUSTWORTHY AND INFALLIBLE

THE BIBLE IS AND

Supporting Scripture: Matthew 24:35

35Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

Key Truth: Jesus says, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” The Bible is eternal and unchanging. Cultures, trends, and even languages change, but God’s Word stands forever. When everything else fades, Scripture remains solid. Illustration #1: Show an old, worn-out book next to a Bible (or describe it). Most things lose relevance or fall apart over time, but the Bible has remained unchanged for thousands of years—and is still changing lives today. Illustration #2: Think of a foundation in a building. If you build on sand, everything falls. If you build on rock, it stands. God’s Word is the foundation for your life—if you build your decisions and identity on it, you won’t be shaken.
Challenge your students to build a habit of going to God’s Word first. This week, ask them to: - Set aside time each day to read even just one verse or passage—start in the Psalms, Proverbs, or Gospels. - When faced with a decision or a question, look for what God’s Word says about it before going elsewhere. - Journal or pray about what God is showing you through Scripture, and share it with a friend or mentor. Remind them: Engaging with the Bible daily will shape their decisions, their attitude, and their purpose. God wants to speak to them—He’s waiting in His Word.
